When Covid hit, my job as an independent recruiter was at risk. The pandemic significantly impacted the job market, causing hiring to slow down dramatically in 2020. To find an alternate source of income, I conducted extensive research and stumbled upon the fact that RV sales were on the rise. This sparked an idea to consider buying or constructing an RV park. My family and I went on a three-week RV camping trip to Yellowstone National Park in 2016, and it was a fantastic experience that gave me the confidence to pursue this project.
I stumbled upon a beautiful private campground in Northern California surrounded by nature and the Klamath River. It was a unique opportunity as I had no prior experience with RV parks, but I was eager to take on the challenge with the support of my family and husband. I wanted to explore something new and connect with both nature and people, which I discovered is where I find happiness. The campground was perfect for someone like me who loves the outdoors and enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds. Despite the significant investment, with diligence, patience, and enthusiasm, the results have been excellent.
Due to Covid, my children's school was remote, and we stayed in the park on-site for six months. During this time, I made some new improvements and hired capable managers to run the park. I was able to manage everything remotely and entrusted the day-to-day operations to my managers.
At first glance, spending time in an RV park or campsite may seem like a fun experience, from roasting marshmallows to fishing. However, owning and managing such a place is actually hard work. Although it can be challenging, it is also very fulfilling. As an owner, my daily tasks vary greatly. I like to begin my day by interacting with my customers and making meaningful connections.
When it comes to running a prosperous campground and RV park, selecting the right location is crucial. It's essential to keep facilities running smoothly, foster a welcoming community for guests, and prioritize exceptional customer service to ensure customer satisfaction.
